How to get expandable text fields within text?

I have a legal document I am trying to create that has text and within the text a client can type their name. I want to know if it is possible to have a text field that is expandable and that also moves the text to accommodate the entry from a client?

I am fairly new with liveCycle so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also can't find where to upload an example of the form I am working on...

making forms ada accessible

I have created a new form using live cycle es2.  I am trying to run and full check on the form and I keep getting 2 error messages:

The checker found problems which may prevent the document from being fully accessible.

  • This document contains no fonts. If this document appears to contain text, it may be an image-only PDF file.

You do not have sufficient permissions to perform this task:  remove hidden information

I cannot find any hidden information and this is not an image only pdf file.

Is there any way to pull an image file name from an image inserted in a form?

I have image fields that users insert images to the form. I want a field that lists the image file name and am hoping it can be autopopulated rather than the user needing to type the file name themselves.

Is there any way to auto fill the image file name after an image is inserted by a form user?

I'm using Livecycle Designer ES2. Form users will have the newest Adobe Reader.

Thanks!

Save As button

I created a form using Microsoft Word for the layout, and added form fields in Acrobat. Then I opened the form in LiveCycle because I like the calendar feature that LiveCycle has for date fields. The problem is that I had a Save As button field in the Acrobat form, but it doesn't work in LiveCycle. Does anyone know a way to enable a Save As button in LiveCycle? (The Print Button that I made in the Acrobat form works fine.)

Calculate Difference in Days Between two Dates

$

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to calculate the difference in days between two dates using JavaScript in LiveCycle. (JavaScript knowledge = minimal)

Where "Start_Date" and "Current_Date" are the names of the two dates in the Hierarchy palette. (both Date/Time Field)

*Current date is using the Object > Value > Runtime Property > Current Date/Time

I need a Text or Numeric field displaying the difference in days. (Difference_in_Days)

I've noticed the following code being pretty standard amongst other responses:

var

Start_Date =new Date(Start_Date);

var

Current_Date =new Date(Current_Date);

var

nAgeMilliseconds = Current_Date.getTime() - Start_Date.getTime();

var

nMilliSecondsPerYear = 365 * 24 * 60 * 60 * 1000;

I know there's code missing, and the above code might not be correct.

Please advise.

XDP doesn't load data if PDF is online

In Acrobat I can import/Export data off my LiveCycle form.

XDP file exported by Acrobat has the following lines:

     <pdf href="../myForm.pdf"/>

</xdp:xdp>

If load this file by Acrobat, is works perfectly (Opens the form and populates it). However, I need to have my PDF file on a server, so I edited the file:

     <pdf href="https://mysite.com/myForm.pdf"/>

</xdp:xdp>

Now when I open it in Acrobat Pro X,  it opens my web browser and loads the PDF but does not populate it.

Do you know what am I doing wrong? or is this another restricted feature?

Unable to view pdf created in Live Cycle Designer ES2-initially thought to be a user/OS issue

Unable to view pdf created in Live Cycle Designer ES2.  I initially thought this was a user / OS issue when I created a document for someone who is new to a MAC laptop.  She could not view the document through email.  Unfortunately, I began seeing the same error in my own document folders when searching for another document showing as icons instead of a list.  I can open the file without a problem although I see the error she sees only while viewing the icons in my folder.  I am using a Windows 7 PC. Now, I also know that if the document is downloaded, it can be viewed.

Other notes:

  1. If trying to access the form via the internet, the same error is seen through Chrome, Firefox, and Mozilla but NOT through IE
  2. Everyone seems to have the latest or a very recent READER
  3. The form is compatible with Reader versions 7 and up
  4. Again, downloading from the internet to the computer appears to allow the file to open properly
  5. Document cannot be viewed on the Galaxy Tab 2 via Chrome or the pre-installed Internet Browser, nor can it be viewed through the Reader after download to tablet. I did not try on an Apple iPad.
  6. All parties involved are up-to-date with virus protection.

Below is a link to the exact message received when trying to open the document.

I've been editing forms using Livecycle.  A validation pattern within one of the fields is becoming jumbled.  It's supposed to show a numeric code when too many numbers are typed into the field so the employee knows too many digits were typed and can correct the error.  The validation pattern is reading the too many digit error, but has also started not accepting certain patterns of numbers.  I've tried several different things to correct this issue.  What can be done?  I know deleting the field will take care of it, but we would ultimately like the validation pattern to work correctly.  I was not the one who created the forms originally and am an amateur when it comes to Livecycle.  I'm not even 100% certain how to add a validation pattern to a new field if I were to delete it and start fresh.  What can I do?

We are considering ways to present interactive forms on the iPAD. I have heard the IPAD will not support Flash (not confrimed)

Would this efectively block the use of Lifecycle ES on the platform?

Calculate forms fields not working in Foxit

Hi all - hopefully someone can help me out - been staring at this issue for a long time, cant fix it

Designing a form using LiveCycle, has Qty and Price fields that auto-calculate into a total. (used the "purchase order" template provided by adobe)

Works great in Adobe Reader, but when opened in Foxit reader, the fields dont calculate. just enter the qty and price and nothing happens. In fact, the Price box isn't formatted as a $ field either.

It's essential to me that my form be compatible, as many of my users are on Foxit.

Any solutions?

Field value from form in subject line?

I'm using a submit by email button on my form and was wondering if it is possible to pull the value of a filled in field on the form into the subject line of the email that is generated?  The button is using the standard "mailto" followed by a "subject=".  I would like to have the subject of the email read something like: "New request - (account number or name from form here)".

Thanks.

Looking for help with repeating table rows and subform

$

I’m hoping someone might be able to help me figure out how to accomplish some things with a repeating table subform in a form I’m building.  I’ve attached the file here.

https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=2nUNZuTf2T4tsdSykMTlXw

I have a table (AssessChart1Table) it set up on pg 7 (Analysis) and have built in buttons(AddRowAssesChart1 and DeleteRowAssesChart1) so the user can add or delete additional rows of data as needed.

The problem is that the user also enters data going across in the header row (AssessChart1HeaderRow1) of this table.  There are 10 columns available; however, they may need to add more data than that. Therefore, I made a button (AddMoreCourses) for the user to click to add another instance of the table subform (AssessEvalChart1) and also undo the adding of the subform with this button (UndoAddMoreCourses).

In addition, I have it setup that whatever data the user enters into the cell (Prog-DeptObjChart1) cell of that table gets automatically transferred to another table (AssessChart2Table),  cell (Prog-DeptObjChart2), which is located on the next page (AnalysisCont1).

All of the above works fine except that whenever the user presses the button (AddMoreCourses) I don’t want it to automatically fill in the text field cells that are copied over from (AssesChart1HeaderRow3) because I need the user to be able to enter different values in lieu of adding more columns to fit their data.  Additionally, I would like the values from the cells in the left column to repeat though because these values won’t change. Currently the values from the cells in the left column that carry down to (AssessChart2Table) get messed up on (AssessChart2Table) anytime I the user pushes Add More Courses button or Undo Add More Courses button.

In summary the tables would look like the attached screenshots:

Analysis_-_Assement_Chart_1.png:Analysis_-_Assess_Chart_2.png

Any help would be so greatly appreciated.  I am not experienced with Livecycle Designer.  The form I've built by reading examples and forums.

In case you need this, I'm using Livecycle Designer v. 9.0.0.2.20120627.2.874785 on a Windows 7 Pro platform.

Thank you!

How many subforms can a LiveCycle Designer form have, and can at least half of that number be repeat

$

Hello,

Here's my question:  How many subforms can a LiveCycle Designer form have, and can at least half of that number be repeating subforms?

I have a very large dynamic form that I've divided up into sections using subforms. The problem is that there are at least (all necessary) 70+ subforms. At least 2 of them are repeating subfomrs within subforms. I have 3 master pages, all have subforms on them; some of the subforms have subforms within subforms within subforms. I seem to have run into a memory issue. For example, I have a check box that makes two subforms visible when checked--each on a different master page. The checkbox opens the subform that is on the same page as it's located, but not the one on a different master page. When I move the subform that's not working to the same master page as the one that's working--no problem.  It works like it's supposed to work.

I have several checkboxes that open subforms on different master pages--they all work, but not this last subform that I added to the form. Is it a memory issue, or does LiveCycle Designer limit the number of subforms a form can have?  I haven't done anything different with the code, meaning I basically set the code to make a subform visible when the user clicks a checkbox, and hide it when the box is unchecked.

Should I be using subform sets?  I've been working with LiveCycle Designer for a couple of years now, and have some experience with JavaScript and FormCalc, but I'm still learning.  I guess my next move is to learn about subform sets, but I've run into this issue before with another form I developed, only that time I was using way less subforms.

Any help is appreciated!!!
